Er. Sarita Shrestha is a Civil Engineer with over 13 years of professional experience in water supply engineering, climate-resilient infrastructure, and post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction of rural water supply systems. She holds an M.Sc. in Hydrogeology and Environmental Geosciences from the University of Göttingen, Germany, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
She has worked with GIZ Nepal, the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (World Bank-funded programs), Oxfam Nepal-funded project, and the Centre of Research for Environment, Energy and Water (CRREW). Her expertise includes the planning, design, implementation, supervision, quality assurance of water supply and sanitation projects, particularly in disaster-prone and climate-vulnerable communities.
Er. Shrestha has served as a Consultant WASH Engineer, providing technical expertise and advisory support for the rehabilitation of water supply systems under major initiatives, including the GIZ Nepal and Dhulikhel Municipality-supported Rehabilitation of the Dhulikhel Drinking Water System and the Oxfam in Nepal-funded Flood and Landslide Response Project, which restored rural water supply systems affected by the September 2024 flood in Kavre District. She believes that integrating sound engineering practices with environmental sustainability and community participation is essential for ensuring long-term water security and climate resilience.
